Harrison Bukter and The ‘Feminism’
Funniest thing I’ve seen all day… a post that calls out Feminists who are against marrying rich Catholic football players that take care of everything. But I believe that when there are Harrison Bukters in the world, women don’t have to forage for food in other people’s gardens.. I’ve actually been waiting for the women’s support meeting to discuss women’s issues I have in regards to schizophrenia and employment options/ monetary needs of mine that are not met. Because the government has a punitive disposition towards the neurodivergent and other disabilities. And I agree with Harrison about the lies we were told in Academia- they promised us that it would be so easy in the real world after making this comittment to education and made it sound like we would have all kinds of options and awards. None of that was upheld. The women from my graduating class at the Queens International Studies Centre at Herstmonceux Castle have no public recognition. No central belief that these women should be merited. The men however do.. and it’s real that the elder men and women from the 70’s who supported the women’s movement all have this Harrison Bukter lifestyle, claim to be empowering feminists and yet DONT have any incentive to give any recognition to the young women of today.
I have been through the worst possible situation you could ever imagine for a woman with my background. Where were all the girls coming to my rescue who identify with the opposition to Harrison’s Bukter’s speech? I have learned to rely on men who don’t perform in life with the same credibility of Harrison’s family values. THAT is an impossible feat full of judgements and betrayal. It has in turn given me a spectacular revelation. When I needed women the most, they were diving into mental health care and wouldn’t speak to me even with the ‘requirement’ of my new found mental illness.
I see a lot of online content telling women to remove themselves from ‘toxic people’. That’s a death sentence for an undiagnosed schizophrenic like me. I needed you and you cancelled me. Abandonment for someone who has a disability is actually a pretty great signifier of character. But many people believe in evaluating me and making a significant impact on my options for the future. It’s as though, women have never fallen ill to marginalization and due to my lack of perfectionism, the ‘feminists’ leave me in the dark.
I grew up in Public school, yet find that people have judgements like the commandments in the Faith when they don’t necessarily follow or represent the values of the Christian communities. This looks like competitiveness among women instead of sisterhood. Harrison Bukter’s Speech and the negotiation of the nuns at The Benedictine College are both examples of freedom of Speech.
The hypocrisy of people who don’t have religion and yet have the same judgments as Harrison Bukter BASED on religion. You put it all together and get a history of sexual competition. This is more about science than it is about religions. But God knows us all. Women are in turn in very compromising positions to have lack of respect in this world, religious of otherwise. We can’t lose sight of what Religion has been used to justify, but I see it perpetuated in the community who saw itself for women’s rights movements.
The female community I had that wasn’t religious and saw itself as feminist, didn’t have a safe space for me. So when I look at religion and feminist culture, I see a safer place with religion who support girls to have family, faith, children and jobs if they so choose.
I have the opinion that The Sisters of Benedictine College have a much more sound approach towards women in both religion and the workplace. Nuns in Canada are all required to have vocations. They do much more than just outreach work for the ladies and gentlemen of schools and Universities. These are academic women who were all educated before being received into the church. It’s acknowledged to both believe Christ the Saviour and serve in the community to uphold the values of Jesus Christ.
I can’t say I truly believe that Catholicism is the only way. But it is A way. And Harrison Bukter is entitled to his opinion alongside the Sister of Benedictine College.
